Thoughts and Prayers for Haiti

The recent news of the earthquake in Haiti has affected us in a very personal way. Our family has been involved in orphan relief projects in Haiti for several years. Our daughter Isabelle has been an inspiration to us as she has raised tens of thousands of dollars to build orphan homes around the world through The Global Orphan Project. Her first home was built in Haiti and we had the opportunity to visit her home this summer and meet the children who were living there. After receiving news of the disaster last night our thoughts and prayers immediately went to the people of Haiti including the children and workers with The Global Orphan Project. We have learned that Isabelle's home and the children living there have survived the earthquake, but there are many more Global Orphan houses in Haiti including many in the center of the quake zone. Because of the lack of cummunication we are still uncertain about the state of these houses. We ask that you keep the people of Haiti in your thoughts and prayers. We are currently looking at ways that Independence Nursery can help with the relief efforts. We encourage you to visit The Global Orphan Project website to receive the latest information from Haiti and to find out how you can help.
