As you know seed potatoes are now in stock at the Nursery and we have also begun to stock other garden seeds. However, there have been several crop failures that have affected the supply of seeds. Varieties of seed potatoes are limited this year as well as the quatities available of potatoes and several other garden seeds. We are still unsure exactly what varieties and how much of each will be available to us this year. To ensure you get the seeds you want for your garden this year, come in early!

Independence Nursery is launching our new campaign Home for Haiti. Our goal is to raise enough money this year to build one orphan home in Haiti through the Global Orphan Project. This home will be similar to the one built by Isabelle and will be able to house eight to ten orphans.

The recent news of the earthquake in Haiti has affected us in a very personal way. Our family has been involved in orphan relief projects in Haiti for several years. Our daughter Isabelle has been an inspiration to us as she has raised tens of thousands of dollars to build orphan homes around the world through The Global Orphan Project. Her first home was built in Haiti and we had the opportunity to visit her home this summer and meet the children who were living there.

It is officially 2010 and the new year means lots of exciting new things happening at the Nursery! We have been hard at work on renovations both outside and inside the store and are very excited for the upcoming year! This year we have also joined facebook.
